It's true! We're very excited about this. I use a lot of riso printing in my work, and Riso Soup is a project I'm really passionate about. I have never written about it on my blog, so thought it was about time.
When the DCA print studio got Risograph printing facilities back in 2015, we decided we needed to explore the possibilities of this really fun form of printing. Riso Soup was born as an offshoot project of Dundee Print Collective, and I joined artists Scott Hudson and Andrew Maclean on a journey into the land of riso. The following photo is of our first zine, which features artwork printed in a few different colours:
We've been steadily working on more projects, including a book of Scottish comic art, two perpetual calendars, an ink colour roulette project, and a zine of zines. We also take these publications and our members own zine works to fairs around the UK and Europe.
We are now venturing into the world of co-editions, which is so exciting. Working with local artists on their own riso projects, hopefully inspiring a love of risograph printing and self publishing!
